Our Family Tradition: Professional Land Clearing in Maine

Welcome to RAM Forestry Mulching. We’re a family-owned, Maine-based business committed to Professional Land Clearing in Maine, including services like Stump Grinding and Invasive Plant Removal.

Our aim is simple: to combine Richard Humphrey’s decades of experience with modern, eco-friendly solutions that help our neighbors in Southern Maine, Central, Maine, and Eastern New Hampshire, care for their land responsibly.

Decades of Experience and a Lifelong Passion for the Outdoors

At the heart of RAM Forestry Mulching is our founder, Richard Humphrey. Growing up in a logging family, Richard spent much of his youth operating heavy machinery, learning safe felling techniques, and developing a respect for Maine’s forests. The beginning Richard worked hands-on in selective thinning and Timber Stand Improvement, helping landowners manage their wooded properties and preserving valuable species.

Over time, he realized that property owners often needed more than just traditional logging. They needed help with stump grinding, invasive plant removal, and everyday land clearing tasks that might otherwise go undone.

Richard leads each project with a steady hand and a desire to do things the right way. Whether it’s clearing brush or restoring a piece of farmland, he always strives to respect each client’s vision and the natural integrity of the land itself.

Meet the RAM Forestry Mulching Team

While Richard’s background remains central to our company, RAM Forestry Mulching truly comes alive through the collaborative efforts of our entire family:

Annette Milne

Daughter & Administrative Coordinator

Annette focuses on behind-the-scenes tasks such as finances, materials tracking, and general business organization. She helps keep our team efficient so we can continue to offer quality service. Her job is to quietly ensure that schedules, client questions, and changes to project details are managed and communicated, so that our field team can focus on finishing your project.

Ian Milne

Son-in-Law & Field Support

Ian is a member of our crew, assisting with everything from invasive plant removal to trail maintenance. He’s also our in-house mechanic, maintaining and troubleshooting our equipment. Like the rest of the family, he values a down-to-earth approach.

Working together as a close-knit group, we value each other’s input and skill sets. This cooperative spirit helps us stay flexible and handle a range of land clearing challenges, while still providing the honest, straightforward service we believe our customers deserve.

Our Values: Sustainability, Safety, and Service

We approach each land clearing project with a commitment to three core values:

Sustainability

We do our best to minimize waste and protect the land’s natural balance. Whenever possible, we mulch debris on-site, which reduces hauling and carbon emissions while returning organic material to the soil.

Safety

Handling heavy equipment and standing timber can be risky if not done properly. Having spent decades in logging, we’re careful planners who try to anticipate potential hazards and address them proactively.

Service

We understand that each property has unique needs, and we aim to listen first, ensuring that the final result is what you truly want. From your first phone call to the moment we wrap up, we try to keep you informed and comfortable with the process.

Why Maine Landowners Work with Us

Over the years, local homeowners, farmers, and businesses have trusted us to clear and restore their land in a way that suits both their goals and Maine’s natural environment. Although we’ve gained valuable experience in everything from stump grinding to larger-scale projects, we’re always open to new methods and better practices. We believe it’s this blend of know-how and humility that keeps customers returning and referring us to friends.

Some of our most meaningful projects involve helping folks reconnect with their properties—removing unwanted undergrowth, managing invasive plants, or carving out winding trails for outdoor enjoyment. We don’t take that trust for granted; each job is an opportunity to learn, improve, and show why family-run businesses often offer a more personal touch.
